Mumbai: Mulund Bunts Distributes Scholarships to Students



Mumbai, Jun 27: Mulund Bunts organized an annual scholarship distribution programme for the Bunts community and economically-weaker students in the society at Kalidas auditorium, Mulund (East), on Sunday June 26.
Speaking on the occasion, Mulund Bunts president Nagriguttu Vivek Shetty said that the students and their parents think lightly of scholarships that are a means to repay the society through educational empowerment. “Indian culture has proven values that ought to be followed while bringing up children and not be lured by Western culture,” said Vivek Shetty.

Scholarship donors Ratnakar Shetty Bansuri, chartered accountant Satish Shetty, Shantharam Shetty Sun City, and Barkoor Sudhakar Shetty were felicitated on the same occasion.
The convener S B Shetty, honorary secretary Vasant N Shetty, treasurer K Jaya Sooda, joint secretaries P N Shetty and Anant K Adyantaya, joint treasurer Hemant Shetty, and women’s wing president Sujata K Shetty were present on the dais.
Sujata Shetty rendered the prayers.  K Jaya Sooda compered the programme.  Vasant N Shetty proposed the vote of thanks.
Scholarships were distributed to the community’s 107 students, 3 engineering, and 5 medical students on the occasion.

Mumbai: Bunts Sangh Celebrates Bisu Parba in Metro


 
Mumbai, Apr 19: Bunts Sangh organized Bisu Parba – 2011 at Bunts Bhavan, Kurla (East) here on Sunday April 17.
Bunts Sangh president Aikala Harish Shetty presided over the programme and offered motion for Bisu Parba. Aikala Harish Shetty released ‘Dharavi’ Kannada poetry by veteran litterateur Kodu Bhoja Shetty and Tulunadina Kattu Kattalegalu, Kannada book by Santhosh Caterers proprietor Raghu P Shetty on the occasion.
Kodu Bhoja Shetty presided over the Tulu poetry session, while Dr Sunitha M Shetty, Ratnakar R Shetty, Ashok Pakkala, Harekala Laxminarayan Rai, Pramod Mada, Dr Karunakar N Shetty and Shantha V Shetty recited the poetry. Professor Sitaram Shetty moderated the poetry session.
Manikanta Vijaya, Tulu Yakshagana play was staged by the artistes of Bunta Yaksha Kala Vedike directed by Polya Laxminarayana Shetty and Damodar Shetty Iruvail. The women wing of Bunts Sung staged variety cultural programmes at the same occasion.
Pune Kannada Sangh president Kushala Hegde was the chief guest during the concluding ceremony.
Metro-based Mathrabhoomi Credit Co-operative Society chairman K D Shetty was the guest of honour, presented Radhabai Bhandari Memorial Award to Malathi Alva and Anand Shetty Yakshagana Award to Sridar Bhandary during the programme.
The sangh honorary secretary V K Shetty, former president Merkala Thyampanna Shetty, catering committee president Ultoor Mohandas, building committee president Bellampalli Balakrishna Hegde, women wing president Asha M Hegde, vice president Vasanti M Shetty, treasurer Sheera Hegde, joint treasurer Mala B Shetty, Ratnakar G Shetty, Professor Sitharama Shetty, Premanath Shetty Mundkoor, Ravindranath Bhandary, Prakash T Shetty and Chandrahas Rai were present.

Former Minister Amarnath Shetty Inaugurated Katapadi Bunts Association

Udupi ,  Sunday, May 15, 2011 :  The Katapadi Bunts'' Association was inaugurated by Amaranath Shetty Kodman in the M R Kamath auditorium in Katapadi in the taluk on May 14.

In his message, Shetty, a former minister and past president of Bunts'' Association - Mangalore (mother organization) said that the Bunt community had always had leadership inherently in its blood. The Bunt community members always mingled with others and maintained good relations. It has also effectively harnessed the leadership quality for the benefit of the society. Even in the reservation system, the community has been getting a fair share, solely on the strength of its leadership, he opined.

Speaking further he said that when, under land reforms, they lost a large chunk of their property holdings, the Bunts diversified into banking and education and made a mark in these fields. Education considerably helped in the progress of the community. He also gave a call to the community to bring together all other communities towards general betterment of the society. 

He also rued that the fact that politically the Bunts had not progressed much. He recalled that when he entered the state assembly, there were seven Bunts in the house. But there are only one or two. The community should seriously ponder over this point, he added.

The meeting was presided over by Shirva Bunts'' Association president Sacchidananda Hegde, with Justice K S Hegde Memorial Institute of Management - Nitte former principal Dr N S Shetty, ACP Susheel Chittaranjan Shetty and Bellary entrepreneur Gurme Suresh Shetty as chief guests. Katapadi Bunts'' Association president Dayananda Shetty, Kaup Bunts'' Association president Sacchidananda Shetty and women''s wing president Anasuya Shetty were also on the dais.

New Building of Bunts' Popular School inaugurated by Pejawar Swamiji, Bajpe

MANGALORE:  Shri Vishwesha Tirtha Swamiji of Pejawar Math inaugurated the new building of the Bunts' Popular School in Bajpe and told that one should not disrespect their own mother tounge and it canot be tolerated.
He further told that students should develop the feeling of patriotism which should be given priority in schools.
Distrist in-charge Minister Krishna Palemar inaugurated the Bhramari-Jagadishwari Rangamandira and . Coastal Development Authority President B Nagaraj Shetty inaugurated the school office.
K Laxminarayana Asranna, M N Rajendra Kumar, Dr M Mohan Alva (represented by his father Mijarguttu Ananda Alva) and Dr Jayaram Shetty were honoured by Pejawar Math Swamiji on the occasion.

Pejawar Swamiji Inaugurates New Building of Bunts' Popular School


Mangalore, Jan 27:  The neglect and holding of one's mother-tongue in low esteem on account of excessive love for English is something which cannot be tolerated, said Shri Vishwesha Tirtha Swamiji of Pejawar Math at Bajpe. He further said that instilling values and a spirit of patriotism in the students would lead the nation to prosperity.
He was speaking after inaugurating the new building of the Bunts' Popular School in Bajpe.
Minister-in-charge of  district Krishna Palemar inaugurated the Bhramari-Jagadishwari Rangamandira. Coast development authority president B Nagaraj Shetty inaugurated the school office, while zilla panchayat former president Sadananda Poonja released a souvenir. MLA Abhayachandra presided over the functon.

Mumbai: Jallosh – 2011, Annual Festival of Bunts Sangh Sponsored Education Institutions Held

Mumbai, Jan 9: Jallosh – 2011, third annual day festival of the metro based Bunts Sangh promoted higher education institutions – Anna Leela College for Commerce and Economics, Shobha Jayaram Shetty College for BMS, Arati Shashikrian Shetty College for Information Technology, Barkur Hospitality Management Studies was held at Bunts Bhavan auditorium, Kurla (East) here on Saturday January 8 evening.
Prakash K Shetty, managing director of Bangalore-based MRG Hospitality and Infrastructure Private Limited, chief guest, inaugurated Jallosh – 2011 which was themed as ‘Mumbai city of Life’. Prakash Shetty also released Youth Times – bulletin on the occasion.
